Video Tutorial: Embossing with Framelits

Today Im using another of our retiring Holiday products to show you a technique you might not know about.  Framelits aren't just for cutting your favourite designs... you can also emboss with them.  This month I ran a technique class called "Creative Framelit techniques" and this is one of the techniques we covered in the class.  Because this particular technique gets such great responses, I think I may do a class in the new year with it as a stand alone technique.

I've made a video to show you how its done, and i used the awesome "Quilted Christmas" set to show it off.  This is one of my favourite retiring products... the bundle and individual pieces will only be available until the 2nd January... after that it will no longer be for sale.  Its a set I will miss, but I've loved using it while it was here.

Here's a closeup of the card today... you can see the embossed image behind the red shapes (and its a good shot of the centre flower):

I hope you enjoy the video and I'll be back with more for you soon. (When you are watching the video don't forget to hit that big red "SUBSCRIBE" button so that you'll be updated when I upload new videos)

Saying goodbye to the Quilted Christmas suite!

This is a retiring (discontinuing) product that actually surprised me.  Over the years I have realised that Im not particularly good at predicting which catalogue items will go, and which will stay.  But I was surprised by this suite as it has been quite popular with a lot of my customers, whether they are quilters or not.

Im not a quilter myself, but I certainly do appreciate the craft, and love to see all the beautiful quilts that can be created.  I have several friends who make amazing quilts... so this has been a set that they have loved.  But even if you dont quilt, this is a beautiful set for any quilt appreciator.  I've had a lot of fun creating cards with it, and have been amazed at all the different types of designs that can be created with these pieces.

In particular I love the framelits in this suite.  And although I love the stamps, today I am showing you an example of a card made with just the framelits.  Window cards are notoriously difficult to photograph well, and this one proved no exception as I attempted to get its best angle. In the end you will just have to believe me when I tell you it is even better in real life!

I did add some DSP from the matching Quilted Christmas 6"x6" paper pack.  And the red satin ribbon  from the Holiday catalogue was also added to finish off the look.  The sentiment in this case is embossed in silver and is from the Musical Season stamp set (also retiring).

And the big news of today is... FREE SHIPPING TODAY ONLY!  Not just on retiring products but free shipping on ALL ORDERS until midnight tonight!

Merry Christmas!

Saying Goodbye to Watercolor Christmas

Here's another set on this year's retirement list.  It's called "Watercolor Christmas"... and even though it was designed to match the "Watercolor  Christmas Project Kit", its a beautiful set and stands alone.  Mostly I adore the font they have used for the sentiments in this set!

Like the card I made earlier this month for a class, shown here.  I actually was inspired by the talented Paula Dobson, who is one of my favourite New Zealand demonstrators :).  Her original card is HERE.   Mine is a little different as you can see... I did have to add some bling of course, and I lifted the gold-embossed sentiment up onto one of our stitched circles with dimensionals.

As we say goodbye to this beautiful set and so many others I am highlighting a different retiring set or product each day over the coming week or so.  I hope you will pop back each day to see what else you can do with these gorgeous items..... and if you want to grab them before they are gone, click the "SHOP NOW" button and order them online.   As of the 2nd January they are gone for good.

And if you are looking for last minute Christmas gifts or something for yourself, you will want to jump in and order soon!  We want to make sure you have those items before Christmas day!

Here's a product list for this card:

Saying Goodbye to the Musical Season suite

Its that time of year when we bid a fond farewell to the retiring products out of our Holiday Catalogue.  I thought over the coming days I would post some pics of my favourite retiring products for you just in case you missed them!  If you would like to see the full list click the SHOP NOW button to visit the store and see which items are disappearing forever!  You'll find them listed under the words "Year End Sales Event".

Today's retiring product I'd like to show off is the Musical Season suite.  All these lovely items are saying goodbye, never to return.  I have to say this one surprised me.  Its not just for Christmas - its useful all year round. So I wasn't really expecting it to retire.  But I've learned over the years that I am actually pretty rubbish at predicting what will stay and what will go!

I've included a product list below for you should you wish to grab any of these products before they retire on the 2nd January.

Enjoy!

The window is NOW OPEN to reserve your very own STAMPARATUS!

Every now and again, something comes along that creates more excitement than you can poke a stick at.   Like the Big Shot... when that thing arrived on our shores several years ago it was amazing! Everyone wanted one! I could not have dreamed how much difference it would make to my business.... and it still does by the way.  Our dies, framelits and other tools keep running out the door in terms of sales.

For me the big difference has been in terms of how I create cards..... my cards made with the Big Shot just look more professional, balanced and creative.

Two weeks ago Stampin'Up opened up a "reservation window" for the new Stamping tool, the Stamparatus.  Its a Stamp positioning tool... designed to help you stamp perfectly every time, and in exactly the right place.  The internet went crazy that day as everyone tried to reserve themselves one of these awesome tools, due to be shipped in the new year.  The reservation window was meant to be open for 2 weeks, but here in Australia the maximum reservation numbers were reached in 15 MINUTES!  WHAT????

So this time, its going to be different. Right now, there is a reservation window open until the end of December, and it will stay open for that entire time, regardless of how many are reserved.  This gives Stampin'Up very useful information on how many of these tools they need to be working with, so that they can work with the manufacturer to get them made and into the country.

But it is still on a "first come, first served" basis... so Stamparatuses reserved first, will be shipped first.  When you reserve your tool, you need to supply a credit card to do so... BUT YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED until the item is shipped next year.

And if you dont really want to reserve one now, you can always wait until they regularly appear in our next Annual catalogue... due out in June 2018.

So on to the important bits:

1. What the heck is a Stamparatus???

2. How do I reserve one???

Here's a video that show you exactly what it is and how it works.  If you've had similar positioning tools before you will very quickly see why ours is different and how you can benefit from the extra features.

To reserve your Stamparatus click the SHOP NOW button at the top of this page and you will see the pic of the Stamparatus and click there to reserve yourself one of these very awesome tools.

I think its going to be a game changer in the way that we stamp!  And I'd love to know what you think!

Sneak Peek: Rainbow Unicorn using the Magical Day stamp set

At our Onstage training day in Melbourne last month I was lucky enough to get the awesome "Magical Day" stamp set as a prize.  I couldnt wait to come home and create with it.  I've now made a couple of cards with the unicorn in the set (I think the unicorn and dragon are my favourite images), and thought you might like to see one of them today.

For the clouds and rainbow I used a new and upcoming framelit set called the Rainbow Builder framelits.  As this is a little girl card, the colour choices were simple... pink and lots of glitter!

I cant post more details about the stamps and framelits just yet as they are not available until the 3rd January 2018, but I thought you'd enjoy seeing this little sneak peek just the same.

And if you would like to see more of whats coming and get your hands on it.... come along to my NEW CATALOGUE LAUNCH on the 6th January, at 2pm.  Right now I only have a couple of spaces left, so be quick if you'd like to join us!  Click HERE to email your booking to me.

Enjoy the card, and I'll be back with more to show you soon.

Scrapbooking classes in the Hunter Valley

Today I am off to one of my classes at the "Taste of the Country" cafe in Pokolbin.  I go up to this awesome little eatery usually once a month for card classes, and once a quarter (or so) for a scrapbooking class.  We make a couple of layouts, as well as put together some Pocket pages with our Memories and More range.  And of course we get to socialise, and enjoy beautiful food together - morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.  So its a full day to create and relax, and I love having this opportunity, and sharing it with an awesome group of ladies.

I thought you might like to see one of the layouts we are doing today. Its quite a simple one, in a predominantly Cherry Cobbler, black and gold palette.  I sponged/brayered over the Merry Music DSP background to give it more of an antique feel (sad to say goodbye to this paper at the end of this month!) and also added some gold accents to the background with our Eastern Vinyl stickers.  The flourishes at the edges of the photo are cut from the top of the Detailed Gate framelits (also retiring).

(BTW These are a couple of black and white photos from our wedding back in Feb 2016... hard to believe its nearly 2 years ago! )

I've included a product list below should you wish to purchase any of these items.... you can purchase in the ONLINE STORE or just click on the item below that you want to be taken to the purchasing page.

And if you think you'd like to come along to one of our Hunter Valley Classes, please let me know by clicking HERE or contact "Taste of the Country" cafe at Pokolbin.

I'll be back with more for you soon.
